A Crazy Idea Meets Reality

So a while back I had this crazy idea - why not do a radio program. This week, that crazy idea met a reality.
So a while back I had this crazy idea - why not do a radio program.  This week, that crazy idea met a reality.

Here is what we are trying to do.  We want to create a program that takes a couple of important issues of the week and kick them around for a bit each weekend.  We would throw in a few odds and ends to make the medicine go down a bit easier but at its heart it will still be a program about the events that are shaping our lives.  The big, the important and sometime the under-reported.  We will look at them through new eyes when we can and stay away from the usual characters that populate the world of modern media.  It is amazing how many smart people there are out there who don't do three minute cable TV interviews.

In some ways it is what I have done for 30 years though the medium is different.  TV is very different from radio. And radio is very different from what I remembered as a kid who hosted talk shows before he really knew much of anything.  But it is not completely different.  Radio remains intimate.  Unlike TV, radio is allowed to breathe, guests are allowed to finish sentences and thoughts, conversations are just that.  The prospects are very alluring.

This week is a start, no more and no less.  No of us involved and there are more than a few have any real idea if we will get to where we want to be.  But that is always the way it is with crazy ideas.  But we have to start somewhere and we start here, this week in this place, and with you.  It's nice to be back.

Welcome

Dear Aaron,

I grew up in Seattle watching you on KIRO, then on ABC News and finally on CNN most notably durring 911. I listened to your show this afternoon, and I say keep going! Your guest Charles Bowden was a breath of fresh air on the imigration issue. I cherish public radio (of which I am a member) for somewhat non bias view points and Mr. Bowden was just that!

Thank you,

Dwayne Young

Love the show

Mr. Brown,
I too remember watching you some 20+ years ago on the Seattle news while I was living in Vancouver, B.C. Since then I have loved your style and now I wanted to add that I really like the radio show with KJZZ. I look forward to more episodes. Thanks you for taking a bigger-picture approach with this show, something you just don't get from TV. Best wishes,

Luis

Great Listen

good to hear quality radio, in todays age of gossip, shock jock and confrontational drivel laden radio, it was a refreshing listen Aaron, keep up the good work

Happy 2 Find You!

Mr. Brown, discovering your radio program just now put a very large smile on my face! I was inspired to google your whereabouts after receiving a text message earlier in the evening from someone who simply but succintly wrote, "WOW." :) It's been a succession of wows today and may I toss one your way because that's what I have to say about this program. Interesting topics and the way it was put together was really cool.

It has been a delight to hear your voice once again reading your masterful writing. I sincerely hope that you are doing all that makes you the happiest and most fulfilled. You have been missed.

Good to Hear You Again

Aaron,

We have so missed you and are so glad to have you back.

Your masterful and heartfelt coverage of 9/11 was a milestone in news coverage, and your sensitive, yet calming reporting that horrific day kept a lot of people, myself included, from going to pieces.

TV has been on a binge of sensationalism and noise without meaning. Your reporting is an oasis of how things ought to be.

Welcome back. We'll be listening.
