Public Hearing Held For Hickman's Air Quality Permits In Tonopah
Hickman’s Family Farms is in the process of getting air quality permits for back-up generators at their Tonopah egg farm, and a public hearing on the permits could see opposition.
The permit would allow Hickman’s to install emergency generators and a boiler at their confined animal feeding operation a few miles west of Buckeye.
The Maricopa County Air Quality Department elected to have the hearing after a previous one in Arlington brought dozens of locals who voiced their opposition to the egg farms, complaining of foul smells and health problems.
County officials said they received a couple hundred comments and questions from the last hearing.
The hearing is 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Ruth Fisher Elementary school in Tonopah.
