It’s Josh Jackson’s first season in the NBA, and now he has his first fine.

In a game Saturday night in Los Angeles, Phoenix Suns forward Josh Jackson made what looked like a pretend gun with his fingers. It looked like he pointed the finger-gun at a fan, and pulled the trigger several times.

That’ll cost him $35,000. In announcing the fine, the NBA called the gesture “menacing.” The fine was also for “directing inappropriate language toward a fan.”

Jackson said it wasn’t a finger-gun, but he’d meant to show the fan his middle finger, then tried to stop, and, “kind of halfway did it.” He said the fan was aggressively heckling him during the game.

It’s been a difficult week for the Suns. The team fired coach Earl Watson after a rocky 0-3 start and are reportedly trying to trade point guard Eric Bledsoe after he tweeted “I don’t wanna be here.”
