Arizona Republicans Ask President Trump To Endorse Rep. Martha McSally For U.S. Senate
Primary elections are just two weeks away, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman asked President Donald Trump to endorse candidate Martha McSally for the U.S. Senate.
Congressional Rep. McSally is considered to be the most mainstream or “establishment” candidate in the primary race against former state legislator Kelli Ward and former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. And even though Mr. Trump hasn’t endorsed anyone in this race yet, all three candidates are playing up their connection to the president in campaign ads.
In the newest cover story of Newsweek, the Arizona Senate race is in the spotlight. Nina Burleigh makes the argument that President Trump has remade the GOP in his image. The primary example of that, is playing out in the primary in Arizona.
Burleigh started her story at a press conference McSally held at the border earlier this summer alongside Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in Nogales with the border wall as a backdrop.
